Responsible Play
Corvathane is free, money-free and for adults only. Even so, casino-style games use the same chance and the same rhythm as real gambling, and the habits they build do not care what the currency is. This page explains what we do, what you can do, and where to find help.
What Corvathane is, and what it is not
Corvathane is a social games site. You play with sparks, a points currency that every visitor gets for free. Sparks cannot be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for money, goods or anything else, and there are no prizes of monetary value. There is no shop, no in-app purchase, no subscription and no advertising.
That makes the site different from gambling, but not unrelated. Reels, cards and wheels are built on chance, and chance is good at holding attention. Playing or success in these games does not imply future success at real-money gambling: real gambling has an edge that works against the player, losses there cost real money, and nothing you learn here changes that.
If you notice that games here are becoming a way to escape, a way to fill every spare minute, or a warm-up for gambling with money, treat that as a signal worth listening to. The rest of this page is here for exactly that moment.
Your tools on this device
These tools work in your browser. They need no account and nothing is sent to us. If you accepted storage they stay on this device; if you rejected it they last until the tab closes, except a pause, which is always kept so that it does what you asked.
Session reminder
A time check appears at the interval you choose, with your minutes, rounds and spark totals for the session. It is on by default, every 30 minutes.
Round limit
Stop every game after a set number of rounds in one session. When you reach it, the games refuse further rounds until you open a new session.
Pause or cool off
Lock every game on this device. Guides, legal pages and Inside stay open. A pause of an hour or more cannot be shortened on this browser.
Calm mode
Switch off reel spins and wheel turns so results appear at once. Slower feedback loops make it easier to notice how long you have been playing.
Changes save as you make them.
If you want to step away from Corvathane completely, the strongest option is to block the site on your own devices. Most phones, browsers and home routers allow you to block a website; tools such as Gamban, mentioned below, can do it across devices.
A private self-check
Eight statements about the last twelve months, covering games and any gambling with money. Answer honestly. The score is worked out on this page only: nothing is saved and nothing is sent. It is not a diagnosis, just a prompt to think.
Signs to watch for
- Sessions that run on past the time you set yourself, again and again.
- Reaching for a game whenever you feel bored, anxious, lonely or low.
- Feeling that the next round will put things right.
- Moving on from free games to gambling with money, or spending more there than you planned.
- Sleep, work, study or time with people you care about getting squeezed out.
- Keeping your playing or spending secret, or feeling defensive when someone asks.
One sign on its own is common and nothing to panic about. Several together, or any that keep returning, are worth talking through with someone, whether that is a friend, your GP or one of the services below.
Supporting someone else
If you are worried about a partner, parent, child or friend, the same services help families too. GamCare and Gordon Moody both offer support to affected others, and talking to someone neutral can make the conversation at home easier.
Blocking and self-exclusion
- GAMSTOP lets you exclude yourself from every online gambling business licensed in Great Britain for six months, a year or five years, free of charge.
- Gamban is blocking software for phones and computers that stops access to gambling sites and apps across your devices.
- Many UK banks let you switch off gambling payments in their app, often with a waiting period before you can switch it back on. Look in your card settings or ask your bank.
- Betting shops and bingo halls run their own self-exclusion schemes; staff can explain them at the counter.
Free, confidential support in the UK
- GamCare runs the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133, free and open 24 hours a day, plus live chat and local counselling.
- Gordon Moody offers residential treatment, an online programme and support for families.
- Gambling Therapy provides free online support and forums in many languages.
- NHS gambling clinics treat people across England, and your GP can refer you or talk things through.
- Gamblers Anonymous runs peer support meetings in person and online.
- Samaritans are there day or night on 116 123 if things feel overwhelming.
Under-18s
Corvathane is for adults aged 18 or over. The site asks once and closes for anyone who answers that they are under 18. We do not design for children, we do not advertise to them and our artwork avoids cartoon styles aimed at young players. If a young person in your home uses your devices, parental controls on the browser or router can block the site; Internet Matters has step-by-step guides. Young people who want to talk to someone can call Childline on 0800 1111 or visit childline.org.uk.
What we promise
- Nothing is for sale. No coin packs, boosts, subscriptions or paid extras, now or later.
- No daily rewards, streaks, countdowns, expiring offers or reminders to come back.
- No game adjusts its odds to how you have been doing. The pay table on each game page is the one it uses.
- Results are described plainly: a round that hands back 40 from a stake of 100 is shown as 40 back, not as a win.
- No accounts, no tracking and no data about your play leaves your browser.
- Help organisations are linked in the footer of every page.
If you think we have fallen short of any of this, write to care@corvathane.com and we will reply.
