Infinite Craft, reviewed
Combine elements with no upper limit, from fire and water to anything you can imagine.

Infinite Craft, from the creator of neal.fun, begins like other crafting toys: water, fire, wind and earth sit in a sidebar, and you drag one onto another to make something new. The difference is that the results are generated by a language model, so the list never runs out. Combine enough things and you will meet planets, films, famous people, jokes and odd abstractions.
When you make something nobody has made before, the game marks it as a first discovery, which gives the open-ended play a small thrill. There is no goal beyond curiosity and no score to chase.
Because it is endless, it is a game that benefits from your own limit. It is wonderful for twenty minutes of silly experiments, and less wonderful at one in the morning.
A first sitting
Pick a target, such as a dragon or a rainbow, and try to reach it in as few steps as you can. Make steam, mud and plant early; they open up a lot.
Where to stop
With no end built in, pick a target before you start and stop when you reach it, or set a timer. A first discovery is a nice moment to finish on.
